ABOUT ORIENTATION: Orientation is required of all beginning freshmen and transfer students (not previously enrolled at MSU).
If you answered yes to all these questions, then you're ready to attend Orientation!
DISTANCE EDUCATION STUDENTS: For our students who will be taking distance education courses only, we have provided the following online orientation program at Distance Learning Orientation. (If you will be taking any courses on campus, you must attend a face-to-face orientation session.)
June 1 Summer I Orientation, Advising & Registration
9am - 5pm
July 6 Summer II Orientation, Advising & Registration
9am - 5pm
(Summer II students are eligible to attend any orientation date prior to this event. Click here for additional information.)
Students entering Midwestern State University are required to attend the orientation session prior to the semester, in accordance with the schedule of classes.
Students should make arrangements to attend the entire day of orientation in order to complete the advising and registration process. Note: A small number of MSU departments and organizations mandate attendance at their own, specific “orientation” programs in addition to New Student Orientation. These isolated “orientation” programs do not substitute for New Student Orientation.
What is Orientation and why do I have to attend? Orientation is the time when entering undergraduates visit Midwestern State University and learn all about programs, services and opportunities available. Students meet with their faculty advisor to register for their upcoming classes and enjoy interacting with fellow peers and student leaders. After attending orientation, students are well-prepared to enter college life and coursework at Midwestern State University. Parents and family are welcome to attend orientation events.

New students must be immunized within the past five years and at least 10 days before the first day of classes.
