Distance Learning Orientation

Enrolling in Spring 2018 courses?

Online Orientation for Distance Education students is open!

Taking courses on campus?
You must attend a face-to-face orientation session or complete Early Orientation Online.

All new undergraduate students are required to attend an orientation session.  For our students who will be taking distance education courses only, we have provided the following online orientation program.

As you begin, you may have many questions.  Orientation presents information concerning the important academic choices you will be making as well as services available to you as a student at Midwestern.  The faculty, staff, and students look forward to meeting you this semester. MSU is an exciting, growing university, and we are eager to help you get the best start.

Orientation for our new distance education students is, of course, online. There are three steps that must be completed.

  1. Complete the Required Orientation Modules.
  2. Review the online resources available for Distance Education students.
  3. Submit the Confirmation form.

Step 1: Required Orientation Modules

In order to complete your early orientation online, you must watch the videos in each of two modules and answer the "pop quiz" questions along the way. You must submit correct answers in order to complete the orientation. Click the buttons below to begin.

TIPS FOR SUCCESS: Want to get it right the first time? Plan your time accordingly; the video system isn't great about frequent starting and stopping, so schedule enough time to watch the whole video from beginning to end. Use the right browser; if you don't have Adobe Flash and an up-to-date browser, you may want to use another device. Don't skip slides; each report about your viewing record will show if you skipped slides or sped through without listening to the audio. Answer the questions correctly, if you aren't sure of the answer, back up one or two slides and watch again, so you can get it right.
