Grading Standards

*The final course grade will be calculated in the following manner:

*There will be no rounding of grades except as necessary to accommodate the electronic testing and grade book limitations.

**Students must score at least a 74% average, using the percentages posted in table 1, on the four objective exams in the course (Three exams and Evolve Exit Exam) to successfully complete the course. If a student scores less than a 74% average on the four objective exams, the average of the five objective exams will be the grade recorded for both the classroom and clinical sections of the course.

***The average of the course activities will be calculated into the course grade once the student has earned at least 74% average on the four objective exams. The two lowest scores on course activities will be dropped from the average. Course activities must be accomplished when offered. There will be no make-up assignments.

***Students who score at least a 74% average on the four objective exams, the averages of the clinical documentation and course activities will be added to the student's grade.

Clinical Hours Breakdown

Simulation experiences - 8 hours

         One four-hour experience - 4 hours

         Two two-hour experiences - 4 hours

Patient care experiences - 72 hours

         Six twelve-hour experiences - 72 hours

Virtual simulations - 10 hours

         Ten virtual simulations - 10 hours

Writing Proficiency Requirement

All students seeking a Bachelor's degree from Midwestern State University must satisfy a writing proficiency requirement once they've 1) passed the 6 hours of Communication Core and and 2) earned 60 hours. You may meet this requirement by passing either the Writing Proficiency Exam or English 2113. Please keep in mind that, once you've earned over 90 hours, you lose the opportunity to take the $25 exam and have no option but to enroll in the three-credit hour course.
