Student Email

Student email accounts are tied to Portal accounts. They will be created as follows:

If you do not know your Portal username, you may use the Portal Username Generator to check what your username will be. Please note that the generator depends upon correct entry of your full legal name and birthday. The generator creates an example, and you will receive feedback from the Portal administrator within one to two business days.

To sign in to your student email account, log in to the Portal and use the "Gmail" link in the Quick Launch menu on the left hand side of your Portal homepage.

If you need assistance logging in, please see the Portal section of the Student FAQ.

Your student email address will only be available to you while you are enrolled, and for 13 months after you graduate from Midwestern State University or are disenrolled. It's a good idea to activate mail forwarding, so that messages sent to your student email address are accessible and can be saved within your personal mail box. To forward your email, do the following:

  • Log into your student email account and open the settings in Gmail.
  • Click the tab labelled "Forwarding and POP/IMAP"
  • Click the button that says "Add a forwarding address."
  • Click the button that says "Proceed" and then follow the prompts on screen.

All student email accounts come with Google Drive and other Google applications standard to Gmail. These can be accessed from the applications menu at the top right of your Gmail inbox, and allow for cloud-based storage of documents and photos. Please be sure to save all of this information elsewhere before your email account expires so that you do not lose anything.
