Assistant to Director, Admissions
Assists with administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Admissions and in the coordination of scheduling and hosting all special events sponsored by MSU Admissions Office. Assists with the supervision and training of MSU Admissions personnel. Works independently to manage office procedures. Acts as a liaison with the data processing staff. Makes recommendations to the Director regarding office policies and procedures. Performs specialized tasks involving implementation of on-campus recruitment activities such as prospective student orientation programs, development of recruitment publications, counseling students and parents concerning enrollment. Travels extensively throughout the state of Texas to high schools and junior colleges for recruitment/retention of prospective MSU students. Coordinates admission counselorís recruitment travel. Maintains MSU Admissions web page and other duties as assigned. Reports to the Director of Admissions.
Coordinates and assists the Director of Admissions with weekly recruiting schedules for MSU Admissions staff. Revises and updates all forms of publications, social media, and communication plans. Oversees daily operations of the office. Coordinates and schedules special events sponsored by MSU Admissions. Assists in the computation of all reports. Conducts counseling sessions and campus visits with prospective students and their parents. Maintains the Admissions web page to reflect the most current and up to date information.
Physical Condition:
Must be able to drive independently and lift a minimum of 20 pounds.
One or more years experience and training in a college environment, preferably in a related area such as school relations and/or college admissions counseling and at least two years prior experience in clerical work involving a high degree of interaction with the public. Experience in working with computers, social media, computer graphics, and college publications. Must have working knowledge of Excel databases. Must have public speaking experience.
Requires working knowledge of MSU admission policies and procedures and residency policies, to include knowledge of admissions procedures for beginning freshmen, transfer students and re-enrolling MSU students. Proficiency in the use of personal computers and commonly used computer software programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook. Knowledge of Banner (student information records system) software is strongly preferred.
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Liberal Arts.
Additional Requirements:
Must have strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to plan and coordinate complex, cross-related tasks. Must be able to make independent decisions and supervise MSU Admissions staff. Must be a strong, positive representative of Midwestern State University. Must work as a team member; be adaptable, flexible, and cooperative; have strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to work with diverse populations. Must be able to work evenings and weekends and hours that may exceed the regular workweek. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *Requires a valid Texas driver's license. *This position is designated as security sensitive and requires a criminal background check.
