Director, Student Medical Service
Directs the services and staff of the Vinson Health Center to provide the highest quality of ambulatory care services for the exclusive benefit of university students. Ensures that medical services provided meet the needs of students with acute illnesses or injuries and are delivered in a timely and efficient manner. Provides administrative and professional nursing skills and support in the coordination and administration of the nursing process. Reports to the Dean of University Wellness / Director of Recreational Sports.
Provide direct patient care in addition to directing and supervising the clinic operations and personnel. Establish immediate and long-range departmental goals and effect staffing and organizational changes necessary to their achievement. Develop and administer department budget; assist in formulation and implementation of policies and programs enhancing the health, safety and welfare of students and employees; outline and communicate nursing procedures and policies; maintain standards of nursing care; provide general oversight of facility operations, renovations and capital planning; other related duties as required.
Requires three or more years of professional nursing experience. Current licensure to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas, without restriction. Current certification in C.P.R. Should have some previous budgeting, administrative, and supervisory experience.
Must have an advanced knowledge of current nursing practices and procedures as well as medical office management. Must be knowledgeable in the use of personal computers and in common office software programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
Bachelorís degree in Nursing or other related field.
Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality; have good interpersonal and communication skills; be well organized; and be proficient in the delivery of professional nursing services while maintaining established standards of patient care. Must be able to keep detailed and accurate records and maintain a high degree of contact with patients, clinic personnel, physicians, the campus community and the general public. Must have a strong interest in young adults and the total development of students. Must have current certification in C.P.R. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *This position is designated as security sensitive and requires a criminal background check.
