Responsible for managing all computer programming activities for the Midwestern State University campus. Implements, designs, and maintains computer solutions, assists in the evaluation and selection of new hardware and software technologies, and participates in developing policies and procedures for the Information Technology Department. Represents MSU in dealing with software and hardware vendors, industry associations and state and federal government agencies related to programming matters. Reports to the Chief Information Officer.
Analyzes systems, develops solutions, trains users, and creates end-user and operational documentation. Confers with users and other staff members to resolve software and hardware problems. Develops feasibility studies and budget cost information pertaining to programming projects. Develops, implements, and administers policies, guidelines, standards and training programs necessary to insure adequate programming services. Conducts application research studies as appropriate to identify new methods, techniques and equipment which would enhance the operation of existing systems and networks. Administers the installation, change-out, modification or purchase of computerized software solutions. Supervises the programming staff. Evaluates the workloads of each staff member and modifies as needed. Performs annual evaluation of each programmer. Conducts interviews for the selection of staff members. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Ability to lift 25 lbs. Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
Eight years work experience including at least five years in the field of computer programming. At least three years experience in responsible management capacity.
Knowledge of various computer programming languages, databases, and operating systems software, in a multi-platform environment. Working knowledge of all MSU programming languages for the development or the modification of existing computer programs and systems. Ability to resolve technical issues. Knowledge of personal computer operating systems is desirable.
Any combination equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college.
Ability to work closely with users at all levels of technical expertise. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *This position is designated as security sensitive and requires a criminal background check.
