Associate Vice President, Academic Affairs / Graduate Dean
The Associate Vice President, Academic Affairs / Graduate Dean is directly responsible to and assists the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs in all academic areas of the university as assigned and is responsible for the overall operation of graduate programs and sponsored programs.
The Associate VPAA/Graduate Dean represents academic areas within the university community on various councils and committees. Develops, initiates, and supervises co-curricular projects or programs assigned by the Provost/VPAA. Serves as liaison with schools and junior colleges. Reports directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Performs other duties as assigned.
Must have significant previous experience in college or university administration with heavy emphasis on academic administration, budgeting, and staffing. Must have full-time university teaching experience at the rank of associate professor or professor.
Should have a strong knowledge of information technology as it relates to research and classroom instruction. Must be knowledgeable in standard office practices and procedures and in the use of personal computers and commonly used office software programs, such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
Doctorate or Terminal Degree
Must have good leadership and managerial skills and be able to communicate effectively with a variety of constituencies. Must have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. *This position is designated as security sensitive and requires a criminal background check.
