Head Coach, Golf / Coordinator, Champs Life Skills Program
Responsible to the Athletics Director for the management and administration of all phases of the Men's and Women's Golf Programs and the Life Skills Program in a manner that upholds the philosophy and objectives of Midwestern State University Athletics. Supervises all coaches in this aspect of the Athletic program as well as graduate and student assistants.
Handles all functions associated with coaching of the golf teams; supervises student athletes' development and progress in academics and athletics. Organizes and supervises all practice sessions; works closely with the Athletic Director to develop match schedules; prepares annual budget; plans major purchases. Oversees selection, purchase, fitting, and maintenance of all team equipment. Arranges for match officials; makes travel arrangements; and monitors student athletes' eligibility status and team conduct and discipline. Assists with fund-raising and promotional activities. Works closely with the athletic trainer to ensure matches and practices are conducted under safe conditions. Develops and maintains a recruiting program to attract top quality student athletes. Insures compliance with rules and regulations of athletic conferences and associations of which the university is a member. Performs additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Physical Condition:
Five to ten years college coaching experience, preferably as a head coach in a competitive program at a four-year institution, or five to ten years in a competitive junior college or high school program. Must have a proven record of coaching, recruiting and administrative skills.
Must have thorough knowledge of applicable NCAA rules and regulations. Public speaking skills extremely desirable. Must have good organizational and administrative skills. Must be computer literate and have the ability to use standard Microsoft programs.
Master's degree required, preferably in Kinesiology and/or sports administration.
Additional Requirements:
Must be able to communicate and deal effectively with a variety of constituencies, including students, alumni, boosters, the media, and the community at large. Must maintain active membership in appropriate professional organizations. Must be a positive representative for the university. Must be certified to teach in assigned subjects. Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act. *This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check.
