Description:
A supervisor of the Media Center within the library and coordinator of library services to distance education students, the Electronic Access Media Librarian is responsible for providing access and training in the use of library resources for distance education students as well as the maintenance, inventory, and servicing of non-print materials and equipment along with the supplies used in the care and maintenance of all materials and equipment. Will be required to maintain budgets for the department's accounts. Work at the reference desk as assigned on a non-traditional rotating schedule, and assist patrons in the use of non-print materials and equipment. Will assist faculty and administration by producing instructional support audiovisual materials as needed. Reports to the Associate University Librarian.
Examples:
Assists patrons in the use of the Primo (ExLibris) based online catalog. Checks and repairs or schedules repairs with other departments for all loaned equipment: laptops, cameras, projectors, recorders, sound players. Supervises and trains student workers. Does general signage and special projects for the library staff including promotional pieces for library events. Determines what supplies and equipment will be needed and keeps account of a department budget. Works with businesses and agencies in the community or over the internet to procure necessary goods and services. Provides reference assistance to patrons when needed. Serves as a research partner for the College of Fine Arts.

Experience:
Highly desirable to have library reference experience at the College/University level. Some training and/or experience working with computers and software programs used in digital imaging, publishing, database, and word processing programs is preferred as is experience working with non-print materials, audiovisual and computer equipment.
Knowledge:
To be flexible and to cooperate with other library staff members in performing any duty essential to the operation of the library. Be well organized and able to effectively communicate to others. Ability to follow emerging trends in technology and determine their efficacy in relation to the Media Library. Understand the role of the Media Library in the overall education of the university student.
Education:
A Master's Degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA accredited program or a Master's Degree in Educational Technology or related field.
Additional Requirements:
Computer literacy including digital imaging and desktop publishing required. Strong interpersonal skills as well as oral/written communication skills required. Familiarity with a variety of audio visual and telecommunications equipment required. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check.
