Assistant Athletic Trainer
The Assistant Athletic Trainer assists with the care and prevention of athletic injuries for all MSU intercollegiate athletic programs. Also has teaching responsibilities within the Department of Kinesiology and assists in the supervision of the application of athletic training practices by student trainers.
As directed by the Head Athletic Trainer, the Assistant Trainer assists in the pre-game taping of athletes and arranges for, organizes and administers rehabilition regimens for injured athletes as prescribed by a physician. Sets up appointments for athletes who require care from a physician. Assigns athletic training students to team practices. Completes needed paperwork on injured athletes and keeps trace of their treatment protocols in a daily log.
Physical Condition
Must be capable of working long hours and of working outdoors in inclement weather conditions.
Must have the minimum experience required for a State of Texas athletic trainer's license and certification by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC).
Must have a thorough knowledge of accepted training practices and techniques and be familiar with both state and national laws regulating athletic training as well as the athletic trainers code of ethics.
Masters degree required.
Additional Requirements
The Assistant Athletic Trainer must have a Texas athletic training license and be certified by NATABOC. Must also have good interpersonal and communication skills and be able to deal effectively with student athletes. Must be able to work nights and weekends. Some heavy lifting required. Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *This position is designated as security sensitive and requires a criminal background check.
