Human Resources Assistant II
Performs responsible clerical human resources management work under the general supervision of the Director of Human Resources.
Duties include serving as the first contact for visitors to the HR Department. Greets applicants and visitors; answers the main HR telephone line. Responsible for posting and closing job openings, coordinating interviews for applicants of non-faculty job openings, and completing reference checks. Collects and maintains statistics for applicant tracking and retrieval of EEO data. Coordinates completion of the hiring matrix and applicant evaluation forms with supervisors and completes job file. Verifies data on Student Employee Personnel Action Forms. Collects and verifies I-9 work eligibility. Submits background checks. Completes employment verifications. Duties may also include scanning documents and filing. Maintains the Human Resources webpage and Human Resources Social Media accounts. Formats the Human Resources Newsletter. Performs related duties as assigned.
Physical Condition
Ability to sit for long periods of time; stand, and bend while filing.
Two or more years of responsible clerical/secretarial experience required with emphasis on the human resources function. Experience in filing, preparation of reports, and correspondence. Should be experienced in the use of computers and computer software programs such as Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Requires knowledge of office procedures and business etiquette. Some knowledge and understanding of applicable Federal and State laws and policies with the ability to effectively apply them to the human resources function.
Bachelor's degree desirable (preferably with courses in human resources, business, or social science). Equivalent experience accepted.

Position requires heavy contact with faculty, staff, students, and general public. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships within and outside the university. Courtesy and professionalism a must. Ability to become familiar with campus organization, functions, procedures, and personnel. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Extreme accuracy in all phases of work. Confidentiality a must. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check.
