Midwestern State University offers students over $2 million in general academic merit scholarships each year. New incoming freshmen and transfer students seeking their first bachelor’s degree who are admitted to MSU by April 1 for fall or November 1 for spring are automatically considered for our general merit scholarships with no additional scholarship application required. All documents and transcripts must be on file by the deadline in order to be considered for the scholarships.  Scholarships range from $500-$2,500 per academic year for students who qualify.

"Old SAT" is defined as SAT tests taken prior to March 2016, and "New SAT" is defined as SAT tests taken March 2016 and later.

Freshman Distinction 1360 Old SAT, 1420 New SAT, or 31 ACT $2500 per year
Freshman Excellence 1170 Old SAT, 1240 New SAT, or 26 ACT $2000 per year
Outstanding Freshman 1090 Old SAT, 1160 New SAT, or 24 ACT $1000 per year
Freshman Achievement 1020 SAT, 1100 New SAT, or 22 ACT $750 per year
Freshman Recognition 990 Old SAT, 1070 New SAT, or 21 ACT $500 per year
Transfer Excellence Minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA from each institution previously attended, seeking their first bachelor's degree, and student must have completed at least 18 credit hours post-high school by the posted deadline $2,000 per year
Transfer Achievement Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA from each institution previously attended, seeking their first bachelor's degree, and student must have completed at least 18 credit hours post-high school by the posted deadline $1,500 per year
Phi Theta Kappa** Membership in PTK at previous institution, available to dual credit and transfer students who qualify. Ensure PTK is indicated on official community college transcript or provide proof of membership by posted deadline. Must be seeking their first bachelor's degree. $2,500 per year

All scholarships are subject to available funding
*SAT scores are based on the combined Critical Reading and Math scores only

Regents Valedictorian High school valedictorian $3,000 per year
Regents Salutatorian High school salutatorian $2,000 per year
ISD Valedictorian/Salutatorian***        Valedictorian or salutatorian from select local ISDs $4,000 per year
ACCESS Award Concurrently enrolled high school student at MSU $1,000 per year

***ISD Valedictorian/Salutatorian is NOT stackable with the Regents scholarships.

President’s Distinguished Scholarship – $7000 per year
Recognizes 10 outstanding beginning freshmen and endeavors to increase understanding of the university structure and promote involvement in the MSU community.
Deadline - February 1

Redwine Honors Scholarship Program - $4000 per year
Designed to bring out the best in academically talented students and to serve as the core of academic excellence with the university community.
Deadline – January 15

Priddy Scholars Program – Full Tuition and Residential Funding
Recognizes 10 outstanding studetns who are the first in their immediate family to attend a four-year university.  Scholarships are selective and cover tuition, books, room, board, and study abroad.

W.P. and Ann Howle Scholarship – amount varies
Recognizes outstanding students planning to attend MSU who families are engaged in the building trade/construction industry.
Deadline:  June 1
