Advising at MSU

MSU’s Academic Advising model relies on Academic Counselors assigned to each college and reporting to college Deans to coordinate student progress toward degree. Undecided students are advised in the TASP. Student-athletes work with an Academic Counselor (or faculty advisor) to create a course schedule, and the Student-athletes Academic Advisor reviews schedules to ensure reasonable course-loads and NCAA compliance.

The Academic Advising Committee, chaired by Ashley Hurst (TASP Director), and composed of all professional Academic Counselors, advises the Associate Vice President for Undergraduate Education and Assessment on all issues relating to undergraduate academic advising including information gathering and distribution, advisor training and evaluation, and policies.
