McCoy School of Engineering

Mission of the McCoy School of Engineering

The McCoy School of Engineering supports the missions of the University and the College of Science and Mathematics by providing quality undergraduate education to students and professional expertise for local and regional industry, government agencies, and other educational entities. This is accomplished in the context of a four-year Mechanical Engineering Program and a Petroleum Engineering Certificate Program, along with major design experiences which prepare graduates for successful professional careers and the pursuit of advanced degrees in engineering or other related fields.

Programs Overview

Midwestern State University (MSU) offers four-year undergraduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering (founded in 2004) along with a Petroleum Engineering Certificate Program. These programs are housed in the McCoy School of Engineering. Students pursuing either the Mechanical Engineering degree enjoy small class sizes (typically, 15 students/class), a personalized learning environment which is highly conducive to learning, and state-of-the-art laboratories which house up-to-date equipment and software tools which allow students to gain real-world experience. The engineering faculty members are experts in their respective fields, and are always eager to help students set their goals, draft plans to reach these goals, and acquire the necessary knowledge and training to achieve these goals. While most classes are offered during the daytime, several classes are offered in the evening to accommodate those students who work during the day and can only attend school after work. In addition, scholarships are available to deserving students, based on financial need and ACT/SAT scores or GPA.

Our BS in Mechanical Engineering Program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET (ABET LOGO).
