Wilson School of Nursing Current Students

Did you know that there are lots of online resources and tools available for you to use, free of charge?  WSON Chair Dr. Kathleen Williamson has shared a number of helpful sites for students. Click here to access the list of links she provided.

Wilson School of Nursing compliance  records are managed through CastleBranch (formerly known as Certified Background), one of the top ten background screening and compliance management companies in the nation.  Students who have been admitted to WSON will receive complete information during the admission/enrollment process.  Use the Access Compliance Portal link on the left or copy the url https://portal.castlebranch.com/MP88 into your browser.  For assistance with compliance issues, please contact Janet Rainey at 940-397-2802.

Each year WSON awards a number of scholarships to students enrolled in BSN prelicensure (including ACCEL-RN), RN-Transition, and Graduate (both MSN and Certificate) programs. You must be a student in good standing, admitted to one of our programs, and enrolled in courses (NURS 3211 or above).  The Student Affairs Committee meets in the spring to award funds for the following academic year, based primarily on scholarship.  Some funds have specific residency  requirements as well.  Complete the online scholarship application to get started.   The application period is January 1 - March 1.

The purpose of the MUSTANGS Project is to prepare Wilson School of Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) students for future employment with rural and/or underserved populations utilizing innovative academic and clinical training experiences.  The MUSTANGS Project began in the 2017-18 academic year.  The first cohort of 10 students will graduate in August 2018.   Funded by a federal HRSA grant, the project will award ten traineeships during the 2018/19 academic year, subject to final approval of second year funding.  MSN and Post-Graduate Certificate students who are enrolled in the Family Nurse Practitioner track and who will be taking NURS 5166 in Fall 2018 are eligible to apply for the second year cohort.  The online application form must be completed by July 1, 2018. For more information, contact the MUSTANGS Project Manager, Vicki Jackson, at 940-397-4599 or by email, vicki.jackson@mwsu.edu .
