Assistant to Associate Vice President, Student Affairs/Dean of Students
Provides secretarial and administrative support to the Associate Vice President, Student Affairs/Dean of Students that involves performing a variety of complex technical, clerical and administrative duties. Works under the general supervision of the Associate Vice President with latitude for initiative and independent judgment. Supervises student assistants.
Handles both routine and confidential correspondence. Screens visitors, schedules appointments and maintains files, fiscal records and restricted information. Performs specialized tasks requiring a high level of skill in typing and computer operation.
Physical Condition:
Should have extensive experience in general office practices and procedures, including some administrative and personnel supervision. Word processing/PC experience, preferably Word and Excel.
Excellent working knowledge of business English, spelling and punctuation. Thorough knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, and equipment. Skill in word processing. Ability to work independently on difficult or complex assignments and to interpret pertient polices and procedures clearly and accurately. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations.
Some college level training desired, degree preferred.
Additional Requirements:
Must have excellent communication skills and be able to deal effectively with students, subordinates, faculty, staff, and the general public. Must be able to exercise sound judgement in difficult situations. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *Typing test required. *This position is designated as security sensitive and requires a criminal background check.
