Director, Housing and Dining Services
The Director is responsible for the university housing and dining programs serving 1400 students in three residence halls and three apartment communities. Responsible for providing leadership to a dynamic residence life program that promotes student learning and engagement and that allows students to learn in a clean, safe, and comfortable environment. Responsible for maintaining and upgrading housing facilities and for sound fiscal management that allows flexibility with the housing and residence life programs. Provides oversight of a comprehensive dining service program and Campus Post Office. The director reports to the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students.
Coordinates and supervises the selection, training, and evaluation of professional administrative, support and student staff. Promotes the housing and residence life program within the campus community through collaborative partnerships with academic and administrative departments. Administers the residence life judicial program. Counsels and advises students and student groups; resolves personal concerns, developmental issues, conflicts and crises. Coordinates housing for summer programs. Integrates dining services and housing programs to provide exemplary products and services to students. Develops and manages budgets including revenue projections and expenditures for self-supporting housing auxiliary and dining services operations. Provides leadership, guidance, and support to Campus Post Office operations, budgets, and services. Oversees new construction and renovation projects working with contractors, architects and physical plant personnel. Researches and develops bid and contract specifications for materials and services in support of housing, dining, and post office operations. Formulates immediate and long-range plans for residence life, facilities maintenance, and renovations. Implements housing marketing programs and publishes promotional publications. Prepares monthly and annual reports. Serves on university committees and performs other related duties as assigned.
Physical Condition:
Five years successful experience in upper level management of housing/residence life operations on a college campus; a record of innovative leadership in managing people, programs, facilities and budgets; demonstrated success in developing students and enhancing student learning through residence life; previous experience with student judicial programs; and a record of managing university housing operations in an efficient and cost effective manner.
Must have knowledge of student development theory and of the impact of a residential living-learning environment on student development; a thorough understanding of the legal and regulatory parameters of contemporary housing practices; and a good knowledge of generally accepted office practices and procedures to include management, recordkeeping, and budgeting.
Master's degree in college student personnel, counseling, or related field; earned doctorate preferred.

Must have the sensitivity and skill to work with a diverse student and employee population; the ability to administer student judicial programs; the ability to work under pressure and uneven time constraints; skill in decision making and oral and written communication. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *This position is designated as security sensitive and requires a criminal background check.
