Writing Proficiency Exam Coordinator
The coordinator manages the Writing Proficiency Exam including scheduling, administration, and evaluation of the exams, and dissemination of results. Responsible for selecting and training graders. Serves as the primary liaison between MSU and off-site proctored testing facilities. Reports to the provost.
Maintains test security and ensures a quiet, suitable testing environment for all examinees. Maintains security of all testing materials and equipment. Prepares and assists examinees prior to each examination. Schedules exam dates on and off campus as appropriate. Ensures qualification and preparation of exam proctors and graders. Disseminates results as prescribed by MSU policy. Upholds confidentiality and integrity of testing results. Responsible for supervision of graders, clerical staff and student workers.
Previous involvement as a student, faculty, or staff member of a university English program is preferred. Otherwise, requires experience in a college environment that involves testing, grading, and communication with students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
Requires knowledge of common test administration and grading practices; knowledge of English grammar and writing skills. Should have good knowledge of standard office practices and procedures, budgeting, recordkeeping, and personnel management. Requires excellent customer service and oral and written communication skills. Should have ability to use a personal computer including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook programs.
Master’s degree is required.
This is an 11 month position. Additional duties include teaching 12 semester credit hours during an academic year. May be required to teach one summer course. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *This position is designated as security sensitive and requires a criminal background check.
