Region 9 P-16 Council Counselor
Provides college and career counseling to area high school juniors and seniors with the goal of increasing participation rates beyond high school. Responsible for establishing GO Centers throughout the region including Wichita Falls, Montague, Vernon, and Graham. Reports to the Dean of the College of Education.
Plans, organizes, and delivers Snack and Share after school sessions at the four GO centers on a variety of topics related to soft skills needed in today’s workforce. Travels to the 39 school districts in Region 9 to deliver goody baskets and recruit students for the summer bridge activities planned. Contacts more than 90% of the juniors and seniors at Hirschi, Vernon, and Graham high schools. Provides awareness and information sessions at night for parents.
Must be able to travel extensively
Experience in college and career counseling
Must have knowledge of the processes of admission for career and college preparation programs. Requires communication and presentation skills for speaking to and working with various audiences
Must have skills in motivational techniques for today’s students.
Master’s degree and counseling certification required
Requires extensive travel to GO centers and area school districts
Must be available for afternoon and evening work. *Regular reliable attendance is required. * Requires a valid Texas driver’s license. *This position is designated as security sensitive and requires a criminal background check.
