Title: Assistant Director, Small Business Development Center
Description: Responsible for providing business counseling for clients of the Small Business Development Center. Will offer general and specific advice and information in the areas of: accounting, advertising, bookkeeping, copyrights, economics, finance, franchising, human resource management, import/ export, management, marketing, patents and trademarks, and venture capital. Capable of creating and conducting seminars on these topics as needed. Able to assess viability and potential of clients and judge assistance level that they are seeking or that they need. Reports to director.
Examples: Counsel clients from all social-economic backgrounds. Counseling covers areas stated above as they relate to business start-ups, business acquisitions, and existing businesses. Perform business analysis, and cash flow projections. Provide market analysis for wide variety of business ventures. The person currently in this position designs, edits and coordinates publication of the quarterly newsletter for the Small Business Development Center. Create and lead seminars on the topics of marketing, financial, and advertising.
Physical Condition:
Experience: Must be familiar with computers and computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, and data base. Business background useful.
Knowledge: Should be knowledge of the demographics and business environment of the local community; computer software programs in general use by small businesses; federal, state and local rules and regulations regarding the creation of small businesses;
Education: A Bachelor's degree in business is required.
Additional Requirements: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, both one-on-one and with groups. Capable of discussing and explaining business topics to all educational backgrounds. Must be able to maintain confidentiality in working with clients. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *This position is designated as security sensitive and requires a criminal background check.
