Director, International Education
Responsible for the creation and administration of international study abroad programs. Establishes and maintains constant contact with faculty to help recruit students for each program. Recruits university partners to participate in study abroad programs. Speaks with interested groups of parents and students concerning overseas study. Prepares and maintains budgets with careful administration of fees and costs balancing funds against the annual costs of each program. Reports to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Maintains a vigorous outreach program to recruit and retain students for all programs. Facilitates the funding and scholarship needs for students participating in overseas study. Serves as the liaison between the Office of Study Abroad and all Offices of the Registrar for grading purposes (including grade appeals, course substitutions, and transfers) for students who have completed study abroad. Tracks student compliance, academic progress, and university demands to ensure that all regulations are followed. Works with London based personnel to maintain housing, security, health, and discipline of students. Communicates between students, the university, and families during travel. Oversees ground transportation for all classes. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Five years supervisory experience in a college or university setting is required. Must have demonstrated success in developing students and enhancing student learning. Previous supervisory experience with developing and administering budget procedures.
Must have advanced knowledge of international education programs and the various university regulations, responsibilities, and regulatory facets of the university community. Must be knowledgeable in the use of personal computers as well as commonly used office software programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook as well as student database software.
Must be highly motivated with the ability to interact with students, parents, and university officials on all necessary levels. Must be able to establish and maintain rapport with international personnel. Should have strong written and oral communication skills and be able to work with a diverse population of students and co-workers in extremely stressful situations. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *This position is designated as security sensitive and requires a criminal background check.
