Title: Museum Facility Operations Manager
Description: Extensive knowledge of museum and site management. Knowledge of building trades/institutional maintenance. Must have extensive knowledge of building systems, construction methods and materials, preventive maintenance requirements, work scheduling and quality control methods.
Examples: Oversees the activities of the facilities department including but not limited to those involved with mandated certifications and permits, sprinkler system and HVAC operation, cleaning, climate control, landscaping, and exterminating services. Provides planning and budgeting and supervises staffing and contract services in support for exhibitions, special events, educational programming, and rental events. Aids in preparation and administration of life safety, OSHA, building and electrical code compliance. Consults on special projects as requested with regard to design, lighting, engineering, planning, construction, and operation. Provides reports, information and assistance for grants, loans and surveys required by other departments. Monitors operational budgets; determines, monitors, and supervises museum environmental controls; provides oversight for museum housekeeping procedures; participates in strategic planning. Aides with the transportation, installation, and de-installation of artworks related to changing exhibitions and collections. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Physical Condition: Requires moderate physical activity and the ability to access all areas of the facility.
Experience: Eight or more years of general facilities management required. Experience in environments involving climate sensitivities, design and construction projects strongly preferred.
Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of museum and site management. Knowledge of building trades/institutional maintenance. Must have extensive knowledge of building systems, construction methods and materials, preventive maintenance requirements, work scheduling and quality control methods.
Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent along with training or experience related to the field of work.
Additional Requirements: Ability to effectively supervise staff. Must have good communication and organizational skills. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, supervisors, university staff and students, and the public. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *This position is designated as security sensitive and requires a criminal background check.
