Title: Assistant Director, Athletics for Business Affairs and Facility/Event Management
Description: Senior level athletics administrative position responsible for monitoring budgets for a 12 sport department and adhering to the fiscal regulations of the university and the state of Texas. Additional responsibilities include scheduling and managing events in D.L. Ligon Coliseum, the MSU football practice fields, the MSU soccer fields, and the Mustang Park Softball field. Works closely with the Director of Athletics, the Executive Associate Director of Athletics, Associate Director of Athletics for Business Operations and the faculty athletics representative to ensure that all MSU sports programs operate within the guidelines established by the NCAA, the Lone Star Conference and Midwestern State University. Reports to the Director of Athletics.
Examples: Scheduling practices, games, camps, and outside events. Contract preparations and negotiations with customers outside the institution i.e. high school playoff games, concerts, etc. Participate in annual fund raising; perform public relations duties and activities with faculty, students, contributors, alumni and university administrators. Work with the coaches and administrators in preparation, control, and operation of the MSU athletic program within the budgets as established. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Physical Condition:
Experience: Two years or more administrative experience is preferred.
Knowledge: Must have thorough knowledge of applicable NCAA rules and regulations. Knowledge of gender equity issues. Public speaking skills extremely helpful. Must have good organizational and administrative skills, scheduling and PR skills.
Education: Bachelorís degree required, Master's degree in Business, Accounting, Kinesiology and/or Sports Administration, preferred.
Additional Requirements: Must be able to effectively communicate and deal with a variety of constituencies, including students, alumni, boosters, the media, and the community at large. Must maintain active membership in appropriate professional organizations. Must be a positive representative for the university. Must be certified to teach in assigned subjects. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *This position is designated as security sensitive and requires a criminal background check.
