Title: Custodian/Locker Room Attendant
Description: Responsible for laundering team uniforms and maintaining athletic equipment as instructed. Performs routine custodial work to maintain cleanliness of assigned area. Work involves cleaning and caring for building and surrounding premises; maintaining custodial tools and equipment; requesting supplies; performing minor building and equipment repairs and other related duties. Works under moderate supervision. Instructions are received in oral or written form and work is periodically inspected by a supervisor for conformance with established standards of building care and maintenance. Reports directly to a custodial foreperson under the general supervision of the Custodial Superintendent.
Examples: Performs custodial tasks such as operating a buffer, spray waxing, dry and wet stripping of floors, and related duties. Uses proper chemicals to maintain restrooms in sanitary condition. Vacuums and maintains carpets. Empties and cleans waste receptacles. Operates washer and dryer to clean team uniforms, towels, and supplies. Stores and maintains daily inventory of athletic equipment. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Physical Condition: *Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Requires moderate physical activity with occasional lifting of objects weighing over fifty pounds. Ability to stand for long periods of time, to climb stairs and ladders, to stoop, bend, and reach overhead. Sufficient strength, stamina, and mobility to perform a variety of manual tasks associated with duties. Must be able to work with and around cleaning products and chemicals.
Experience: Experience in janitorial or general cleaning and doing athletic laundry, such as team uniforms, towels, etc., preferred
Knowledge: Must know the modern methods of cleaning rest rooms. Must have a working knowledge of cleaning supplies and custodial equipment such as vacuum cleaners; buffers, wet and dry pick-ups; have some knowledge of floor care; carpet maintenance and care; and must have knowledge of custodial chemicals and their application. Workable knowledge of laundry equipment, including clothes washers and dryers.
Education: Education sufficient to read and write and receive and follow oral and written directives; to maintain inventories of cleaning supplies and athletic equipment; and to follow instructions in the mixing and use of chemicals and the operation of powered equipment.
Additional Requirements: Ability to work unsupervised. Must be able to understand hazardous materials handling and be able to maintain cleaning supplies inventory. Ability to work unsupervised. Must be able to work a varied schedule with irregular hours due to team schedules. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *Requires an employment physical exam. *A valid Texas driver's license is required. *This position is designated as security sensitive and requires a criminal background check.
