Reporting to the Director, Center for Continuing, Professional, and Distance Education, the LMS Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the University's inventory of Internet courses, overseeing course online evaluations, and for providing the technical expertise needed to insure dependable access and ease of on-line navigation to both students and faculty.
Works with faculty to develop on-line courses; maintains on-line course management software; updates and changes course content information as requested; maintains the MSU Distance Education homepage; coordinates activities with Information Systems; and serves as a resource person for technical questions for students and faculty on course-related computer matters. Responsible for server issues, trouble tickets, faculty evaluations and updates/releases. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Extensive experience in developing and managing websites desired, preferably in an educational setting.
Must have advanced computer skills and be knowledgeable in the use of commonly used software programs, such as Microsoft Office, ASP, HTML and data bases.
Bachelor's degree and equivalent work-related experience.
Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to establish good working relationships with students, faculty and supervising administrators and teachers, good organizational skills, ability to exercise independent judgment on technical issues, and the ability to work with minimum supervision. Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends. Often works remotely on an on-call basis. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *This position is designated as security sensitive and requires a criminal background check.
