The Hardware Technician is responsible for implementing, configuring and supporting Microsoft Windows NT/2000/Novell Servers (including maintaining all server documentation), software and Workstations. Reports directly to the PC Network Services Manager.
Work will include the installation and configuration of operating systems and application software; diagnosing and correcting hardware and software problems; and providing technical support to end users
Ability to lift 40 lbs. Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
2 years hardware and software troubleshooting experience. At least one year working in a server based computing environment
Ability to resolve related hardware problems in a timely manner. Know enough about systems software to determine if the malfunction is in the hardware or in the software. Be able to run diagnostic programs to locate malfunctions. Practical problem solving skills and solid trouble shooting skills a must. Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Be able to work well with other people in a team oriented environment. Ability to install/deploy Apple and Windows based computers. Desire to learn new things. Must be self motivated and work with minimal supervision. Must be well organized with excellent documentation skills. Ability to train end users. Possesses hands-on experience in system installation, configuration and maintenance
High School Diploma
PC repair including board swap, memory additions, peripheral devices and software installs and upgrades. Show knowledge of Networking Protocols (TCP/IP). Experience with virus defense systems and backup systems.
