Coordinator, ADA Accommodations
Assists the Director in the coordination of support services to meet the needs of students, faculty, staff and visitors with physical and/or learning disabilities requesting accommodation covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Responsible for academic testing accommodations, student and faculty training on use of adaptive equipment, program activities, daily office operations, and supervision of student assistants. Reports to the Director of Disability Support Services
Arranges and administers academic testing examinations to students based on disability accommodations consistent with faculty expectations. Monitors test security and integrity of testing accommodations. Trains students and faculty on adaptive software and equipment; ensures equipment is operating properly. Provides information on available services and policies and procedures to students, parents, staff, faculty, and others. Assists individuals with the registration and accommodation process. Performs general office functions such as handling correspondence, maintaining databases, student records, and accommodation forms; processing requisitions, and ordering office supplies and other routine clerical duties. Supervises and trains student employees. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Two or more years of administrative, secretarial, or related experience, preferably working with diverse populations. Experience with student or employee accommodations for persons with disabilities in an education environment, preferred.
Must have the ability to work with a diverse population of traditional and non-traditional students having a variety of physical and/or learning disabilities. Knowledge of types of disabilities and the ability to effectively communicate with individuals who have writing, reading, visual, hearing, and/or speech disabilities. Ability to quickly learn and train others on adaptive software and to monitor equipment. Proficiency in the use of personal computers and knowledge of commonly used computer software programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
Bachelor's degree required with courses in business administration, counseling, education, or psychology/sociology, preferred.
