Academic Advisor, BAAS
The Academic Advisor for the BAAS program explains degree plans and advises qualified BAAS students on the appropriate courses and the requirements for planning academic studies and maximizing academic potential. Reports to the Assistant Director, BAAS.
Maintains complete and accurate confidential student records, compiles data on matriculation and retention, and participates in student recruitment programs. Evaluates academic transcripts and other documents for BAAS Program eligibility. Performs other duties as assigned.
Previous experience in advising/counseling distance and nontraditional students required. Must be experienced in the use of computer software applications (Microsoft Office preferred). Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Must have knowledge of or be able to quickly learn the curricula and requirements of the BAAS Program and the university's core curriculum. Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Must have a demonstrated interest in working with and assisting students. Must be able to handle a heavy volume of student traffic. Must be able to work on multiple projects concurrently. Must be able to maintain confidentiality. Must be able to make group presentations and participate in other professional activities. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *This position is designated as security sensitive and requires a criminal background check.
